A Basic Face For Those Basic Days

A Basic Face For Those Basic Days
Hello all, what an unbelievably hot day it is today! Grant it, every day in Texas feels like a whirlwind of heat but today is definitely an exception. The high is supposed to be 101 degrees and it's already 89 degrees at 9:00 am this morning! How stressful is that? Anyways, I have plans today and ultimately I still have to wear a bit of makeup and get dressed which means I am going to share a quick little on-the-go makeup routine that will make you look summertime fine.

First things first; CONCEAL! If you're like me hen you suffer from mild acne scarring and some spots are just harder to hide than most! I like the Kiss professional because it covers those tiny spots without making my pores feel clogged!

Next up is my NYX total control foundation! You guys, I love this stuff and not only does it give great coverage but it is very lightweight and oil-free.

I normally dab a few drops on both cheeks, my forehead and my chin and that will cover my entire face.

I use this egg-shaped beauty blender to press it deeper into my skin! This thing works wonders mainly because it doesn't hold oil and it glides the foundation against my skin and makes it feel velvety.

Up next, are the eyebrows! Funnily enough, I spent the majority of high school and college never touching my eyebrows and thankfully my mama taught me how to fix them without looking dramatic.

I know that there are a million ways to fill in eyebrows but I like to make tiny strokes in the sparse areas and call it a day. I'm not gonna spend 8 hours on each brow because this girl likes to keep it natural and quick.

Thank you, Mama, for introducing me to highlight! I love this stuff so much that sometimes I like to overdo it! I have since then toned it down a lot but sometimes I still like to over highlight my nose like Rudolph!

And the final step in this tutorial is of course lipstick! Today I opted for something a bit more neutral since I was going to dress a bit on the casual side for the day.

I only recently discovered Maybelline Super Stay and when I say this stuff is super amazing! It literally lasts all day and makes my lips pop against my basic makeup skills!

Voila! Here is the final look! As you can see I lit my nose like a Christmas tree but I kinda couldn't help it! But none the less, I still have a pretty basic face for a pretty basic day. I like to keep my looks simple, easy and natural. This is pretty much how I have been applying my makeup since high school and it has been working pretty good for me since then. I am pretty set in my ways so it's very rare that I change my method even when I change a few products here and there. We all know it is very hard to find colors that match darker skin tones so I normally like to stick to the same items! Let me know if you're more of a natural gal or a glam queen?

Best,
Carey
