Lavender Pecans With A Side Of Chicken And Waffles

Lavender Pecans With A Side Of Chicken And Waffles
As many of you may know, I obsess over anything Lavender related; from food to fragrances I love it all!
I am pretty sure this little habit of mine started when I was in college and I visited my favorite ice cream shop and there was a new "flavor of the summer" called Lavender and Rosa'. I don't know what was making me feel spontaneous that day but one thing is for sure, I really did fall in love with that Lavender flavor more than I could ever imagine. Anyways, after I left the ice cream shop I kept thinking about how amazing that little scoop of ice cream tasted. It wasn't long after until I realized it was a specialty item which means that it probably wouldn't be there much longer so, of course, I had to make sure I ate as much of it as I could before it was gone. Surely enough, as summer decided to fade away, so did my favorite flavor and I was so, so, so very sad.

Instead of staying in a funk, I decided to take a little trip out to the market to see if I could find a few new treats that I could fall in love with. I wasn't looking for anything in particular and was pretty much happy to just to be out in the city for a couple hours UNTIL.....

I passed by this cute little stand that was selling a wide variety of pecans and I may or may not have gotten a bit too excited about it! I love pecans and I especially love any kind that is gourmet or have special flavors! Of course, I walked around to see what flavors they had to offer and they did not disappoint at all!

They offered flavors such as "Coffee n' Cream, Orange Zest, Cinnamon Sugar and of course they had lavender n' cream! As soon as I saw that there were only two bags left I grabbed both of them and immediately headed to the register to make my purchases.

As soon as I was paying for my items the owners informed me that the lavender n' cream was everyone's favorite and that they had a very hard time keeping it on the shelves! I was glad that they saved some for me because I just KNOW that I am going to love these as a little on-the go snack for when I crave something sweet!
Since I was there, I decided that I would continue to browse around the market for a few more goodies! When it comes to shopping at the market I know that it can feel very overwhelming but since I am kind of a pro I thought I would share a few tips that have worked for me over my years as a thrift shopper!!
Mini Tips and Tricks To Better Shopping
  • Always bring cash because sometimes those little card readers don't work well and I don't like having to swipe my card too many times at one booth.
  • Look at ALL the stations before you make your first purchase. I have always made the mistake of buying the first thing I saw only to be disappointed when I find something else I would have preferred to spend my money on.
  • Stay on a budget! This is to protect yourself from overspending on things that you don't need!
  • If it's unique, buy it! If you can get it from another store, then leave it! The whole point of market shopping is being able to find things that no one else has to offer, so think about its level of uniqueness before you purchase!
  • Don't be afraid to ask questions about the product! I made this mistake one too many times and now I am not scared to ask how something was made, how long it will last, and if it truly is unique to the owner! Asking those simple questions almost always determines if I will buy the product or find something different at another booth!
Those are pretty simple tips that I use every time I visit the market! I think it is important to know what you're doing OR you will end up spending more money than you planned! Also, no one wants to leave the market feeling like they have a bunch of throw away purchases so it helps to take those tiny extra steps when shopping around. Anyways, I purchased a few more food items on my trip today and I thought I'd share them with you all! My purchases mainly consist of snacks but we all love food right?

As I decided to walk around the market a little longer, I found this cute place that sold sausage rolls in a croissant! The owners told me all about their homegrown pork and how their bread was made and of course I was sold!
I pulled out my cash and decided to purchase my first real food item of the day! I picked out the biggest one because I knew I would be sharing with my sister and plus I wanted to have room to sample other things while I was there!

What I loved most about this pork sausage roll is that it tasted so fresh and it was beyond good! I wish I would have purchased my own because between me and my sister we ate the entire thing in under two seconds flat!!

However, all is not lost because a mere 15 minutes later we came across a booth that sold chicken n' waffles and you better believe I was going to spend my money on that!

I ordered two sides of the chicken n' waffles with a side of extra chicken and fries to add to the mix! I don't know if you can tell from me writing this post but I was SUPER happy to be surrounded by all of this good food today! Ha! Of course, I ate my waffle stick within seconds of it reaching my hand BUT I took my time sharing the rest of the food with my family!

Not only were the fries and chicken good BUT that little buttery piece of toast at the bottom was the best part! Ha! Gotta love bread I guess!

Anyways, that's my little update on my trip to the Farmer's Market! This little adventure all started because of my sweet tooth and I ended up indulging more than I planned! But hey, sometimes it's ok to treat yo self every once in a while! Anyways, I just wanted to pop in and share that little experience with you guys! Have any of you guys visited your local market before? If so, what's your favorite thing to buy when you're there? And if you have never been to the market before then my question to you is....would you try lavender flavored pecans? Because I have already eaten half the bag and I am obsessed!
