There Was Something So Awesome About The '90s
I was thinking about how different my life was in the 90's compared to what it's like for my sisters today and I must say that I am a little salty that they have waaaay more freedom than I could ever dream of!
First and foremost, they get away with a lot more than I did as a child and they definitely have more privileges at 4 than what I had at age 18! Now I'm not saying this to say that it's unfair but I am definitely saying it's unfair! Ha! Anyways, I am not here to talk about the differences between the 90's and whatnot but I do want to dwell on how amazing it was to be a 90's baby! I mean who could say no to new Rugrats episodes, Saturday morning Disney cartoons and boxed milk cartons am I right? #90'sLove
The Best Things About The '90s
  • The fashion was very cute depending on how old you were during that time period! If you were a kid then you wore huge bows, baggy clothes and colored socks with everything. If you were an adult then say hello to some of the most embarrassing fashion trends of your life! Ha!
  • The cartoons were much better and of course full of adventure. Who remembers Doug, Rugrats, Daria, Hey Arnold, Arthur, Ahhhh Real Monsters, Angry Beavers, The Wild Thornberrys, Courage The Cowardly Dog, Goof Troop, Captain Planet, Reading Rainbow, ZOOM, Between The Lions and sooooo much more! We were truly raised on quality television!
  • The toys were better and interactive! When I was a tot there were no phones, tablets, or even computers in our house! Just some chalk to draw on the ground a bike that my sisters and I took time to ride up and down the street with. Some of the best toys were Bop It, Furby, Tamagotchi, Sky Dancers, Troll Dolls, Easy-Bake Oven, Skip It, Slinky, Glow Worm, Color Changing Spoons, and the list could go on and on and on!
  • Can we really talk about the 90's and not talk about all of the best movies that were released during that time period! I swear it was like everyone's peak creative juices was flowing during this time because some of my favorite movies are from the 90's! Some of my favs are Toy Story, Titanic, Lion King, Matilda, Jumanji, The Witches, Aladdin, A Goofy Movie, Good Burger, Power Rangers, Beauty and The Beast, Mrs. Doubtfire and so many others!
  • Also were the 90's a thing without talking about the fact that we had the BEST school lunch out there? Who remembers their milk coming in a bag? Or those Minute Maid Juice Bars? I know I do! #yum Oh, and let's not forget that we actually ate off of real plates back in the day!
  • The parenting style was different then as well! I know I got my butt tore up if I acted out in the store but that's not the case for a lot of kids now! I'm not saying I miss it but I will say I turned out a better person because of it!
  • There was no social media.......
  • The candy was weird, fun and very rarely tasted good! Ha! Does Fun Dip, Wonder Balls, Fruit Stripe Gum and Dunkaroo's ring anyone's bell?
  • Ps: You weren't cool if you didn't have the Lisa Frank folders, pencils, gel pens, stickers and backpack during the back to school season.
  • And last but not least the books were even better! When I was a kid I waited on the book fair at the school like it was Christmas! Some of my favorite books were Goosebumps, Stellaluna, Chrysanthemum, Beezus and Ramona, Wayside School, and a whole other list of goodies I am probably forgetting!
There were so many other awesome moments that happened in the '90s that shaped my childhood and pretty much the way that I think today! I know everyone may feel like their "time period" was the best but there is no denying how special and simple the 90's was. Anyways, what was your favorite thing or moment about the 90's?? Let me know below!
