Restyling My Favorite Black Printed Dress Two Different Ways

Restyling My Favorite Black Printed Dress Two Different Ways
In a few weeks time, the weather will be changing and guess who's not prepared? "Points finger at self".
I didn't mean for it to turn out this way but time just got the best of me! I am normally a bit more prepared when it comes to the changing seasons but for the first time in forever, I haven't been in a huge rush to buy so many Fall clothes at such a fast pace. I have decided that this time around I will restyle some of my favorite summer pieces and transition them into the next season. Grant it, I have plenty of floral print in my wardrobe and I don't exactly know how I will make it work BUT I guess that's the beauty of personal style! There are no rules and you are free to wear exactly what you want when you want and how you want to! I have never been one to answer to any fashion rules and I am definitely not about to start now! I like to wear what makes me comfortable and of course, as many times as I want to which is why today I am showing you how I wore my favorite dress two unique ways.

As you can see here I just have on a simple black printed off the shoulder dress! I decided to wear this ensemble to church but if you're from the south like me then you already know you're not about to pop up in church with your shoulders out! Ha! Anytime I have a dress that shows a bit more skin on Sunday morning I always decide to pop on a little jacket to get me through the service! The jacket is always an added bonus simply because I get cold easily as well so most of the time I don't mind the extra layers! On this day, in particular, I decided to wear the olive green jacket that I purchased from Old Navy a few seasons back. I just love the way this jacket makes my entire outfit pop! I also love the fact that the green jacket really brings out those subtle Fall vibes that I have been waiting so patiently for!

I also decided to pair this dress with my favorite burnt orange bag that I found at the thrift store! I told you guys a few posts back that this would be a Fall staple piece for me and I am pretty sure that I won't regret it at all! I don't know about anyone else but during this time of year, I love to mix burnt oranges and olive greens together! It really makes the outfit come alive and I always feel so sassy in those colors!

Of course, this next step may seem simple BUT the only change I made to this outfit was removing the jacket! As mentioned above, this dress was an off the shoulder dress and most of the time can be styled without anything else. I found this dress on the clearance rack from H&M and I have been obsessed ever since! I love that this dress is comfortable, flowy and can be styled in many different ways.

Fun Fact: When I first tried this dress on I absolutely hated it! I don't know what it was but I just couldn't embrace the darker toned colors just yet! My mama convinced me to purchase it since it was on sale and reminded me that Fall was closer than I thought and she didn't want me to regret leaving it in the store. I am so thankful that I had my guardian angel mama there to help me make the right decisions about this dress! I guess you're never too old for your moms' advice! #mamasknowitall

One thing I have learned when it comes to my personal style is to not be afraid to mix it up sometimes. I used to be the type of girl that would get rid of all of her clothes once the seasons changed but now I am totally against it. With all that is going on in the world, I realize it is more realistic to wear all of your items in different ways so that you can get more bang for your buck. I am never beneath wearing the same items over and over because honestly, that's just what's more realistic for me. With that being said, you can definitely count on me wearing this outfit throughout all of Fall and most of Winter. Before I go, I just have a quick question! Do you guys like to restyle clothes from the previous season or do you like to create an entirely new wardrobe? Let me know in the comments below!

Best,
Sha'Carey
